Q: Where do I call to get CPR classes?

A: Call The Headquarters Fire Station at (760) 323-8181.



Q: What do I do with old gasoline, oil or paint that I don’t want?

A: Call Riverside County Health at (909) 358-5029.

Q: Why does a Fire Truck and an Ambulance come when I dial 9-1-1?
A: Palm Springs Fire Department stations are strategically located to provide “first response” emergency aid in five minutes or less. Ambulance transport services are provided by a private company.

Q: How do I get a copy of a fire investigation report? 

A: Call Fire Prevention at (760) 323-8186.

Q: How do I get a fire permit?
A: Open burning is not allowed in the City, but special permits can be obtained for special events. Please call Fire Prevention at (760) 323-8186.

Q: Where can I go to get my blood pressure checked?

A: Any fire station between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.



Q: How can I schedule a fire truck or a firefighter at my function?

A: Call Fire Dept. Headquarters at (760) 323-8181.

Who do I call about a fire extinguisher that doesn’t work?

A: Check the Yellow Pages under “Fire Extinguishers.”



Q: Who do I call to get sand bags?
A: The Palm Springs Fire Department will supply 10 sand bags (sand is not included). Sandbags are available at all fire stations, or check the Yellow Pages under “Rock, or Sand and Gravel.”

Q: It seems like I hear sirens all day are you really that busy?
A: The Palm Springs Fire Dept. will respond to over 6,500 incidents this year and our call load is growing yearly at a rate of approximately 5-10% per year.

Q: Why do so many fire trucks respond to simple incidents?
A: Fire Department units are dispatched according to information received by the 9-1-1 operator. The Palm Springs Fire Department is proactive when we respond to a call for help.

Q: Who do I call if I have problems with bees?
A: The Palm Springs Fire Department does not remove bees unless there is imminent danger to a person. If such a situation exists, firefighters must destroy the bees and the hives. To have bees removed, look in the Yellow Pages under “Beekeepers or Exterminators.”
